TRE®

Welcome to The Jewel Within, where we offer Tension and Trauma Release Exercises (TRE®) in both group and private sessions. TRE® comprises a series of straightforward yet groundbreaking exercises designed to facilitate the release of deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and trauma. Whether you’re seeking relief from difficult living conditions, prolonged stress, or traumatic experiences, TRE® provides a path to releasing stored tension and restoring balance to the body and mind.

Tension and Trauma Release Exercises

TRE® consists of a series of simple but innovative exercises, which assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and trauma.

Body’s Own Healing Process

Created by Dr. David Berceli, PhD, TRE® safely activates a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. When this muscular shaking/vibrating mechanism is activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return to a state of balance.

The Benefits Of TRE®

TRE® helps to release stress or tension caused by difficult living conditions, acute or prolonged stressful situations, or traumatic experiences.

Do TRE® Exercises Work?

There are extensive clinical trials underway to verify the effectiveness of TRE, though anecdotal evidence suggests many people find it does achieve significant improvements. This includes people with PTSD as well as those with chronic illnesses connected to muscle health, such as Arthritis and Fibromyalgia.

What Does Trauma Release Feel Like?

As you release trauma, you will feel like being more active. You will feel an increase in energy. This could make it easier to complete self-care and daily tasks as well as engage in social activities. You may feel like returning to work or seeing friends when you have been avoiding such activities.

Is TRE® Risk Free?

Yes, TRE® has proven to be safe and can be used as a self-administered exercise to relieve stress and reduce tension. However, those with a history of physical limitations, injuries or psychological conditions should consult their medical health professionals before doing TRE®

“Trauma creates change you don’t choose. Healing is about creating change you do choose.”

–Michelle Rosenthal

TRE® is a body based (somatic) process which, when done properly, through a Certified TRE Provider can allow the individual to discharge tension from the body, which often does not require “revisiting the story”. (ie: verbally describing or talking about the traumatic experience)

TRE® is designed to be a self-help tool that once learned, can be used as needed, throughout one’s life, thereby continuously supporting and promoting personal health and wholeness.

TRE® can be taught in very large groups for communities that have experienced mass trauma.

TRE® can cross culture and language barriers because it is based on natural physiological responses shared by all human beings.

What Should I Wear?

Its similar to practicing yoga, it’s important to wear comfortable and breathable clothing that allows for ease of movement. Opt for stretchy, moisture-wicking fabrics like yoga pants, leggings, or shorts paired with a fitted top or a breathable tank top. Avoid clothes with zippers, buttons, or drawstrings that may dig into your skin or cause discomfort during poses. Additionally, consider layering to adjust to changes in temperature during your practice. Overall, choose clothing that allows you to move freely and comfortably while maintaining modesty and confidence.
